The semi-trailer air spring brake chamber, often simply referred to as a "spring chamber" or "dual-chamber chamber," is the core component of the semi-trailer braking system. It integrates both service braking and parking/emergency braking functions into one unit.

Product Details

Service Chamber: Located at the front. When you press the brake pedal, compressed air enters this chamber, pushing the diaphragm and push rod to slow down or stop the vehicle.

Spring Chamber: Located at the rear. It contains a powerful coil spring. While the vehicle is in motion, the system's pressurized air compresses and locks the spring; when the air pressure is lost (e.g., when the vehicle is parked, the engine is turned off, or there is an air leak), the spring automatically releases, forcibly applying braking force via the push rod.

Powerful Spring: Provides mechanical braking force for stopping and emergency situations.

Diaphragm: Converts air pressure into mechanical thrust; requires wear resistance and high-temperature resistance.

Push Rod: Connects to the adjusting arm, transferring force to the brake pads.

Caging Bolt: Used to manually release the spring force when there is no air pressure.

Product Applications

Semi-trailer parking brake: This is the most common application. When the semi-trailer detaches from the tractor (in drop-and-hook transport) or is parked in a logistics park or dock, the driver pulls the handbrake valve. The air in the air chamber is expelled, and a powerful spring locks the wheels firmly, ensuring the vehicle won't roll away on various slopes.

Heavy-duty transport scenarios: Semi-trailers typically transport tens or even hundreds of tons of cargo. Traditional pure air brakes may not be sufficient to maintain a stop for extended periods under extreme conditions. The mechanical pressure provided by physical springs is extremely high and constant, making it an indispensable safety barrier for heavy trucks and trailers.
